About this Event

Sprint Distance Triathlon, Duathlon, and Aquabike

Triathlon is Parathlete Friendly USAT sanctioned on road event.  500 meter swim, 20k bike, 5k run.  Duathlon is non parathlete friendly USAT sanctioned 2.5k run, 20k bike, 5k run.  The Aquabike consists of a 500 meter swim and a 20k bike.

The Swim takes place in Bowman Lake.  This is a natural, clean, sand and gravel bottom lake in a nature preserve.  The lake is open to the public to swim at your own risk with a park day fee or an annual pass to Allen County Parks.  The water temperature usually ranges within 7 degrees of the air temperature.

The Duathlon run starts next to the swim on a 5' wide asphalt trail.  After about 100 meters, the trail curves and turns into a rough gravel road for almost half a mile.  The rest is on asphalt roads to the turn around/. aid station.  This is an out and back run, returning the same way you went out.  Continue past the starting line to transition.

The bike starts in a chip and seal parking lot (transition) and continues down a narrow asphalt road winding through the woods to the park entrance.  The rest of the course is an out and back and continues on asphalt roads around limestone quarries.

The run heads out of the park in the same direction as the bike.  At the entrance, the run heads west instead of east to the aid station/turn around.  The finish requires that you stay to the left of all athletes when heading in towards transition.  Keep left and run past the transition area to reach the asphalt trail which heads to the beach area and finish line.

Aquabike finishers listen closely on race day for finishing instructions, or visit for updated information periodically.
